Zoom

To increase your comfort a zoom facility is available. You can enlarge an indicated portion of the document by clicking on the zoom icon. A rectangular “magnifying glass” is placed in the preview of the current page. It is possible to resize it by using the bottom-right corner of its container. There are two operation modes of zoom function. The first one is to drag a rectangle containing a detailed preview. The second mode (”full screen” mode) is enabled if you resize the “magnifying glass” to the size of the preview. Click on the zoom icon again to hide the magnifying glass.

Dictionaries (Translation Memory)

Because many phrases and expressions are often reused in different documents, it is important to collect them with the corresponding translations in the form of a dictionary. Such dictionaries (Translation Memory) can significantly accelerate the translation process. They can be also be a source of suggestions for new phrases that are translated for the first time. The use of dictionaries significantly reduces the amount of work needed to translate a text. They can increase the speed and the quality of translation and ensure the correctness and consistency of the translator’s work. In Mediatrad, every document is added to the existing database as a new dictionary and can be reused in future translations. Dictionaries can be also imported (and exported) in the form of csv or tmx files.

Find/replace

The Find/Replace feature is very useful. For example, for finding similar expressions which have already been translated, or for replacing an incorrect translation that has been used in many parts of a document. The Find/Replace engine is based on string comparison and allows any character strings in the original or translation to be found. Found pairs (original and its translation) are usually displayed with their context highlighted in the searched text.
